Srilankan Airlines’ best HR practices recognized again

-

Srilankan Airlines, the national carrier, bagged two awards – Silver and a Special Category award for best Employee Engagement, at Human Capital Awards (HCM) SHIFT 2020 held at Cinnamon Grand recently.

Organised by the Association of Human Resources Professionals (HRP) in partnership with the National Human Resource Development Council (NHRDC) and Society of Human Resource Management, India (SHRM) as the technical partner, the annual HCM awards strive to provide a platform for private sector entities in Sri Lanka to evaluate the effectiveness of their human resource management (HRM) practices against internationally accepted guidelines. Srilankan Airlines won a Silver award following an overall assessment that evaluated the company’s learning and development initiatives, uniqueness in employee hiring, training and retention practices and continuous innovation and the Special Category award was given for best Employee Engagement practices by the organisation.

The national carrier has been increasingly focusing on workforce management to suit the trends and dynamics of the aviation industry, mainly through business partnering.

Srilankan Airlines Head of Human Resources Pradeepa Kekulawala said, “Srilankan Airlines is proud to receive such an honour, which reflects our dedication to continuously initiate different strategies to keep our employees motivated, engaged and productive creating a healthy and dynamic working environment that inspires our employees to reach their full potential.”

Four Gold awards, six Silver awards and nine Special Category awards were presented at this year’s awards ceremony and stringent confidentiality is maintained throughout the evaluation process. The shortlisted organisations were ranked and assessed by a panel of independent auditors from SHRM.

The panel of judges comprised prominent local and international HR professionals and industrialists while the scientifically designed evaluation tool first evaluated the best practices of participants against the established benchmarks facilitated by SHRM, India.

Launched by the HRP to benchmark the best HRM practices in the country, the awards provide a competitive arena in which corporate giants and smaller companies can compete for the honour of being ranked as one of the leading HRM practitioners in Sri Lanka.
