Govt. to provide compensati­on and houses: Musthapha

Meethotamu­lla tragedy

The government is taking necessary steps to provide compensati­on and residences for the people who lost their houses in the Meethotamu­lla tragedy, Minister of Provincial Councils and Local Government Faiszer Musthapha said.

He said the government has done its best to the people who were affected in the Meethotamu­lla garbage dump collapse incident.

Minister Musthapha vi s i t i n g th e si t e a t Meethotamu­lla said each citizen of the country should be thankful to the tri-forces, the Police and the Sri Lanka Civil Security Force who are still playing a significan­t role in assisting the victims. He said the Ven. Vitiyala Kavidhaja Thera and the Inspector General of Police took steps to use a neglected building complex to provide temporary accommodat­ion.

We are very sensitive in a situation of a tragedy. Each person tends to assist without any difference­s. In the recent history, we could see that some individual­s try to accomplish their political needs in such situations. It is not acceptable” Minister Musthapha added.
