Sampath down Seylan 3-0

Sampath Bank downed Seylan Bank 3-0 in their Mercantile ‘C’ Division fixture conducted by the Mercantile Football Associatio­n at the City League ground, Colombo. At the short whistle Sampath Bank led 2-0.

The game had hardly got underway, when right extreme C.N.B. Nugahapola put Sampath Bank one up and in the 35th minute a penalty shot by Dilum Ariyawansa put Sampath two up.

After the change of ends centre forward Dinusha Nanayakkar­a got his boot onto the ball to give Sampath Bank their final goal and a 3-0 win.

The game was refereed by M.A. Abdeen BM.

SRI LANKA TELECOM TROUNCE HSBC 6-0

Sri Lanka Telecom trounced HSBC by six goals to nil in their Mercantile ‘C’ division soccer match conducted by the MFA at the City League ground. At half time Sri Lanka Telecom were well in front with five goals to HSBC’S nil.

In the 5th minute, centre forward K.G.S. Madushanka put Sri Lanka Telecom one up two minutes later mid field H.G.D. Madushanka made it 2-0.

In the 12th minute left extreme W. Asanka made the score 3-0 in favour of Sri Lanka Telecom and in the 15th minute right extreme fired the fourth goal for Sri Lanka Telecom 4-0. In the 29th minute H.G.D. Madushanka scored his second goal to make the tally 5-0 for Sri Lanka Telecom at half time.

After the turn around, H.G.D. Madushanka booted the final goal to give Sri Lanka Telecom a clear 6-0 win.
