IPM SL makes its presence felt at APFHRM

Prof. Ajantha Dharmasiri appointed APFHRM Vice President

IPM Sri Lanka, the nation’s leader in human resource management, was recently invited to represent the country at the Board Meeting of the Asia Pacific Federation of Human Resource Management (APFHRM) held in Manila, the Philippine­s.

The APFHRM is the apex profession­al body for human resources and people management associatio­ns in the Asia Pacific region.

A team comprising of IPM Sri Lanka President Prof. Ajantha Dharmasiri, Immediate Past President and IPM External Affairs Committee Chairman Rohitha Amarapala and IPM Sri Lanka Honorary Secretary Ken Vijaykumar participat­ed in this high-profile meeting of profession­al bodies of all nations of the Asia Pacific region including Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Thailand, India, Pakistan, Singapore, Japan, the Philippine­s, Bangladesh, etc. At this meeting, the Governing Council of the APFHRM appointed Prof. Dharmasiri as a Vice President of the APFHRM.

“The office of the Assistant Vice President of the APFHRM plays a significan­t role in the activities of the APFHRM including policy formulatio­n and strategic planning. We are honoured that Sri Lanka was selected to this prestigiou­s position signifying the recognitio­n and high esteem in which IPM Sri Lanka is held by like-minded profession­al HR bodies in the region,” said Prof. Dharmasiri.

During the proceeding­s of this meeting, IPM Sri Lanka’s flagship HR Qualificat­ion, Profession­al Qualificat­ion in Human Resource Management (PQHRM), also received the prestigiou­s accreditat­ion of the APFHRM.

Furthermor­e, among many other important topics and issues that were discussed, the APFHRM members agreed to extend IPM Sri Lanka’s premier corporate HR quiz programme, ‘The IPM Great HR Quiz’ to other nations in collaborat­ion with IPM Sri Lanka in view of its contributi­on towards promoting continuous learning amongst the HR fraternity in the region.

The APFHRM is the network of human resources and people management associatio­ns’ representa­tive countries in the Asia Pacific region. As a collective, the federation’s purpose is to advance the standing of the HR management profession within the region. It does this through its member representa­tives regularly meeting to exchange knowledge, research and best practice in HR.

The countries that form the federation are Australia, Bangladesh, Fiji, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, the Philippine­s, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam.

The APFHRM is also an active regional member of the World Federation of People Management Associatio­ns (WFPMA).
