25th Foxhill Supercross: ASHAN, ISHAN TAKE FOXHILL MAJOR HONOURS AT SUPERCROSS
Ashan Silva and Ishan Dasanayake took the major honours when they bagged the top drivers and riders awards at the 25th Foxhill Supercross which was held at the Sri Lanka Military Academy motor racing track in Diyatalawa over the weekend.
Silva who took the best drivers award in 2015, did not participate in the event last year due to injury, and showed in his comeback that he has not lost his touch as he bagged the main motor car Race 1 and 2 event of the meet which was the SL-GT Cars upto 3500cc by winning it with ease.
Dasanayake on the other hand retained the best riders’ award which he won last year as he came out on top in three events which were the two Group MX over 175cc upto 250cc (4T) and over 100cc upto 125cc (4T) events and the Group P MX Racing Motocross Bikes over 100cc upto 125cc.
Young Kushan Peiris who has the honour of being the only driver to have had three wins in the motor car category at the Foxhill Supercross continued his success with back to back wins, which were Group SL-N Standard Cars Ford Laser/mazda 1300cc and Group SL-H Cars upto 1618cc, as he brushed aside the challenge of more experienced drivers.
Rider Imal Manchanayake was another of the participants to bag a double when he came out on top in the Race 1 and 2 of the Group SM Super Motard including 250cc upto 750cc (4T) and including 125cc upto 500cc (2T) Moto/twin Cylinder events.
The 25th Foxhill Supercross which was the silver jubilee celebrations that sped off in 1993 initiated by Major General Gamini Gunasekera was conducted by the Sri Lanka Military Academy. PIX BY SHANUKA KULASEKERA
