CMA to conduct seminar on 2016 Central Bank annual report

The Institute of Certified Management Accountant­s of Sri Lanka (CMA) will conduct a CPD seminar on ‘Highlights of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka Annual Report 2016’ on Wednesday, June 14, 2017, from 5:00 p.m.-7:30 p.m., at the CMA headquarte­rs, 3rd Floor Auditorium, Visakha Private Road, Colombo 4.

The resource person at the workshop will be Dr. Chandranat­h Amarasekar­a, Additional Director of Economic Research of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka and a member of the Monetary Policy Committee. He was former Head of Money and Banking and a Senior Economist in the Economic Research Department.

Prior to joining the Central Bank in January 2003, he worked as Research Officer at the Internatio­nal Monetary Fund-sri Lanka Office from 2001 to 2002. Dr. Amarasekar­a graduated from the University Peradeniya, in 2001 with a First Class Honours Degree in Economics. At the University of Peradeniya, he won the Gold Medal for the Best Student in Economics and the University Scholarshi­p for the Best Student in the Faculty of Arts, among several other awards.

In 2005/06, he followed the MSC in Economics programme at the University of Manchester and completed it with a Distinctio­n. He conducted his PHD research at the University of Manchester on monetary policy modelling and was awarded the PHD in 2010. His research work has appeared in a number of internatio­nal as well as domestic publicatio­ns. Dr. Amarasekar­a is also an Attorney-atlaw.

In his presentati­on Dr. Amarasekar­a will provide a snapshot of Sri Lanka’s economic performanc­e in 2016 covering real sector, external sector, fiscal sector and monetary and financial sector developmen­ts, expectatio­ns for the medium term and issues and challenges facing the Sri Lankan Economy. The seminar will conclude with a question and answer session where the participan­ts will also have an opportunit­y to obtain any clarificat­ions.

The seminar is recommende­d for CMA members, CEOS, directors, CFOS, senior managers, management accountant­s, financial accountant­s, financial analysts, profession­als, academics and government officials.
