Laugfs initiated a series of programmes themed ‘Laugfs Sadaham Prarthana’ to mark the Vesak and Poson poya days.

The line-up of events and activities sought to inspire Laugfs employees to become engaged in reflecting on spirituality and practice the virtue of generosity.

“As a group of companies, our core values reflect a sincere commitment to working together, practicing generosity and contributing to the happiness of the larger community as well as our own employees. Both Vesak and Poson poya seasons are pertinent occasions to reiterate the significance of these values and engage everyone in actively fulfilling them.

While our Vesak celebrations focused on helping our employees to share the true spirit of the occasion, our Poson celebrations will go a little further in helping the larger community by extending our support to the children of Halwathura Junior School in Bulathsinhala,” commented Laugfs Holdings Director/ Chief Human Resource Officer Dulani Nissanka.

Laugfs ‘Sadaham Sarasili’ programme beckoned all employees of Laugfs head office to collaborate to build a Vesak lantern in the spirit of shared joy while LAUGFS Engineering team designed and built a large ‘Dharmachakra’ (wheel of Dhamma). Vesak celebrations also included a ‘dansala’ and ‘Bhakthi Gee’ sessions conducted by employees.

In an effort to discuss and raise awareness about work-life balance Laugfs held the ‘Laugfs Damsak Nadha’ programme, which consisted of a panel discussion on the true meaning of happiness. The panel sought to create awareness on leading a balanced life with regard to both work responsibilities and personal wellbeing.

Samitha Prasannaarchchige moderated the panel which consisted of Rev. Borelle Athula Thera, Aththanayake M. Herath and renowned artist Jayalal Rohana. Laugfs employees participated in the discussion with much enthusiasm. Also the Poson celebrations included a special Poson dhamma sermon at the head office premise.

In addition, the group has already set plans to implement a community programme to refurbish and upgrade a number of necessary facilities that were lacking at the Halwathura Junior School in Bulathsinhala.
