MORE LANDSLIDES EXPECTED IN KALUTARA DISTRICT

Kalutara District Disaster Management Centre warned that several hills in Palindanuwara, Walallavita, Maurawala, Horana, and Agalawatta areas were prone to landslides due to the torrential rain experienced in the area at present.

The Disaster Management Unit has informed the people living in those areas to be cautious about the threat.

Meanwhile area residents said

The landslide on the Bulathsinhalahorana Road

the Bulathsinghala – Horana road which had been closed due to a landslide and re-opened recently was again facing a similar danger. They pointed out that the road had been obstructed to a distance of about 400 metres near the Bambarakula Bridge but that no steps had been taken to prevent more landslides.
