SL’S growth rate a matter of pride for other nations: Japanese Ambassador­s

Japanese Ambassador­s of five SAARC countries met Foreign Affairs Minister Ravi Karunanaya­ke yesterday and said the growth rate in Sri Lanka is a matter of pride for other nations in the region.

Japanese Ambassador in India Kenji Hiramatsu, Masashi Ogawa of Nepal, Kuzumi Endo of Maldives, Takashi Kurai of Pakistan and Masato Watanabe of Bangladesh took part in the meeting held at the Ministry in Colombo.

Issuing a statement, the ministry said the five ambassador­s hailed the ongoing developmen­t activities in Sri Lanka.

Meanwhile, Japanese Ambassador in Sri Lanka Kenichi Suganuma said that the meeting of the Japanese Ambassador­s in SAARC nations was arranged with the Foreign Minister to strengthen the diplomatic relations between Japan and Sri Lanka.

He said that his colleagues in other SAARC countries inspected the progress of Colombo Harbour as well.

Addressing the meeting, Minister Ravi Karunanaya­ke said Japanese investors have ample business opportunit­ies to invest in Sri Lanka.
