ICTA mislead us.: Govt.
We would like to hear a clarification from Dr De Silva as he had said ICTA has provided wrong information to him with regard to the payment gateway
The Government informed Parliament that it has been misled by the Information and Communication Technology Agency (ICTA) in relation to the National Payment Platform (NPP).
This was mentioned by Deputy Minister of National Policies and Economic Affairs Dr Harsha de Silva last afternoon.
Dr. de Silva stated the government initiated an investigation when it was found out that ICTA had provided wrong information about the NPP “I informed the Prime Minister about the situation and initiated an investigation” he said.
He said his ministry obtained the investigation report on Monday.
He made these observations in response to a question raised by the Chief Opposition Whip Anura Kumara Dissanayake with regard to the Deputy Minister’s statement to a private electronic media on August 11 evening which quoted the Deputy Minister who had said he has been misled by ICTA. ‘‘We would like to hear a clarification from Dr De Silva as he had said ICTA has provided wrong information to him with regard to the payment gateway”.
He added that he would make another statement on the matter later.
The Deputy Minister on August 11 in Parliament said that the Government had not authorized any private company to operate the National Payment Platform (NPP), replying to a question raised by Chief Opposition Whip under the Standing Order 23 (2) in response to a question raised by Mr Dissanayake himself.
