MALAY SC BEAT UNIVERSITY OF COLOMBO 6-1

Malay SC beat the University of Colombo 6-1 in their CHA ‘B’ Division Pioneer Hockey fixture at the Astro turf. At half time Malay SC held a 4-0 lead.

In the siuxth minute a field goal by C. Ratnapala put Malay SC one up and in the 17th another field goal off the stick of D. Perera made it 2-0 for Malay SC.

In the 21st minute P. Watsalage gave Malay SC their third goal off a penalty corner and five minutes later A. Bandara got his act working to give Malay SC their fourth goal.

After the change of ends in the 38th minute D. Perera scored his second goal to make the score 5-0 in favour of Malay Sports Club and five minutes later C. Ratnapala got his act together to give Malay’s their sixth goal.

The final goal was in the 56th minute by P.D. Amaradivakara of the University to make the final tally 6-1 in favour of Malays.

KDU defeat Old Anandians HW ‘B’

Kotalawela Defence University (KDU) defeated Old Anandians Hockey Wing ‘B’ 4-2 in their MHA ‘B’ Division Pioneer Shield fixture at the Astro turf. At the half time mark KDU had a lender 3-2 lead.

In the sixth minute of the game, G.G. Dharmaratne opened the account for KDU with a field goal and four minutes later N.O. Kalinga added the second.

But in the 15th minute Old Anandians pulled the lead back when they were awarded a penalty and N. Liyanaarachchi sounded the boards.

In the 23rd minute KDU extended their lead when Dharmaratne fired his second goal to make the tally 3-1 in favour of KDU.

In the 26th minute veteran Suresh Kumar got to his act working to give Old Anandians their second goal: 3-2.

The last goal was in the second half of the 42nd minute. off the stick of Kalinga, to give KDU a 4-2 win. - BM.
