EX-JMO could be arrested for Thajudeen’s missing body parts : AG
DSG Dilan Ratnayake informed Colombo Additional Magistrate Jeyaram Trotsky yesterday that former Colombo Chief JMO Ananda Samarasekera, who performed the post mortem examination on the body of killed rugby player Wasim Thajudeen could be arrested over the missing body parts of the former Havelocks rugby player.
The DSG made this exposure during the magisterial inquiry held yesterday. He also said that the CID is still conducting further investigations on the details revealed during their investigations and would report their progress to court on September 28.
It was also observed by the court that the present Colombo Chief JMO Ajith Tennakoon could hold in his custody the human skeletal parts that were recovered from SAITM during the investigations into the killing.
According to the police, Thajudeen was killed on May 17, 2012 in what appeared to be a car crash. At the time of the accident he had been driving to the airport and lost control of his car and crashed into the Shalika Grounds parapet wall at Park Road, Narahenpita resulting the car exploding. However, following the regime change, the police announced that Thajudeen’s was not an accidental death, but a killing. Hence the investigation was handed over to the CID. The second post mortem examination by the present JMO Ajith Tennakoon had found the death to be suspicious.
The CID also had informed the Magistrate in June, 2015 that the autopsy report and the Government Analyst’s report were contradictory.
