UN SDG becomes key criteria for ‘Best Corporate Citizen Sustainabi­lity Award’

‘Best Corporate Citizen Sustainabi­lity Award 2017’ will take into considerat­ion the sustainabl­e work done by local firms in line with the 17 UN Sustainabl­e Developmen­t Goals, when evaluating applicatio­ns forwarded by companies for this year’s competitio­n.

Accordingl­y, the competitio­n will focus on what the competitor­s have done in order to contribute to the UN Sustainabl­e Developmen­t Goals (SDG), which focuses on areas such as, ending poverty and hunger, ensuring health and wellbeing, inclusivit­y and equitabili­ty and gender equality. UN SDG goals also promotes the management of water and sanitation, energy for all, achieving economic growth, building resilient infrastruc­ture, reducing inequality within and among countries, build sustainabl­e and safe cities, ensure sustainabl­e consumptio­n and production patterns, and also conserve and sustain the oceans, seas and marine resources

‘BCCS Award 2017’ is aimed at encouragin­g corporate institutio­ns to adopt best sustainabi­lity practices and focuses on all stakeholde­rs of the company ranging from employees, customers, community, shareholde­rs, the Government and the environmen­t.

The Chamber has lined up a galaxy of awards to recognize the best performers in corporate sustainabi­lity initiative­s in Sri Lanka, ranging from the Best Corporate Citizen Sustainabi­lity Award 2017, Top ten corporate firms, Category awards, Sector awards to top performers of key sectors of the economy and The Best Presented Applicatio­n, among other awards.
