Cathy Rich marks 25 years of food processing technology leadership in Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka’s pioneer in food processing technology Cathy Rich marked the completion of 25 years in Sri Lanka. To mark the special occasion, a number of special events were held in Cathy Rich Food Processing Training Center at Yodhagama, Embilipiti­ya.

One of the main events was the technical workshop on food processing, which was conducted free of charge. A very large number of entreprene­urs engaged in the food processing industry and ambitious entreprene­urs attended the all-day programme.

The participan­ts were of the view that they were able to gain a sound knowledge on food processing technology by this programme, thus making their anticipati­ons successful.

The Cathy Rich institutio­n, which courageous­ly advanced through its technical knowledge and skill for 25 years as a leading provider of full solutions on food technologi­cal services to the micro and smallscale food processing sector in Asia. The company has handed down over 20,000 entreprene­urs to society through its food processing technology programmes. From then up to now, it is among their future goals to make further public awareness on the mission performed by introducin­g food processing technology to the country by Cathy Rich institutio­n and thereby to spread out its mission further.

A Dhamma sermon was held recently invoking religious blessings for success of these objectives while an alms giving was held for Bhikkus. A special conversati­onal programme with the attendance of Cathy Rich associates was held at evening the same day with a special awards ceremony to appreciate of the service of Cathy Rich founders. Cathy Rich Center also made this an opportunit­y to express their gratitude to all who offered their assistance for the success of its service throughout the last twenty five years.

Ankara, the authentic Turkish restaurant in Colombo recently celebrated its sixth month in operation.

Since its inception earlier this year in February, Ankara has become a favourite dine-in restaurant for the city dwellers as well as many tourists from around the world. The restaurant known for its authentic Turkish food and drink, elaborate Middle Eastern architectu­re and interior and high service standards, also welcomes many tour groups who stopover for lunch or dinner.

Tying up with the Sri Lanka Associatio­n of Inbound Tour Operators (SLAITO), Ankara has welcomed many business and leisure travel groups over the last few months. These include tour groups affiliated with some of the leading names in inbound tour operations in Sri Lanka. Jetwing Travels was the first to venture into Ankara with Aitken Spence and other renowned tour operators following suite.

“Most of these tour groups consist of travellers from Middle East, Europe, Russia and even Indians and Pakistanis who enjoy Turkish food. We have had good response from the visitors who have commended the traditiona­l preparatio­ns that we serve at the restaurant and also the quality of our service,” the management of Ankara said.

Apart from the fine dining restaurant, Ankara also boasts a multitude of banquet facilities ranging from wedding halls and conference rooms to private meeting rooms. It also has an open air café serving Turkish street food like Doner Kebab (Shawarma). For ladies who wish to catch up with friends and relatives in privacy, Ankara also houses a special ladies shisha lounge.

Ankara is also taking hospitalit­y a step further by extending credit facilities to tour operators that are members of SLAITO.
