Health sector: Transfer procedure sorted out

The month long dispute between the Government Medical Officers Associatio­n (GMOA) and the Health Ministry on the transfer procedure of doctors and internees ended in a satisfacto­ry note after a discussion held between the Health Ministry, the GMOA and the Public Service Commission (PSC) on Monday.

Accordingl­y, the transfer list of intern medical officers will be suspended with immediate effect by the Health Ministry and a new transfer list will be prepared by a new transfer board that will include representa­tives of the GMOA after reviewing the old list.

with the cooperatio­n and assistance of the transfer board.

All previous transfers will be regularize­d and in a given time frame and report the progress to the PSC.THE special transfer appeals boards will meet only twice a year and the doctors who are required to be transferre­d on special circumstan­ces will be given transfers under the accepted policy.

The North-east transfer list will be in operation until the consent of all concerned are obtained for revision and the North-east transfer list will be referred to the difficult area list.

The above decisions were accepted and approved by the Health Ministry, the GMOA and the PSC for immediate action.

All three parties expressed their stakeholde­rs to come to a peaceful settlement.
