MTI in Perth to strengthen research ties with UWA

MTI CEO Hilmy Cader arrived in Perth to strengthen ties with the University of Western Australia (UWA), with the intention of jointly exploring opportunit­ies in Sri Lanka for research and executive education.

UWA, which is ranked 91st in the world, appointed MTI as their Sri Lankan representa­tive in 2016.

UWA pertains to be one of the strongest research intensive Universiti­es in Australia. It successful­ly holds its place in the Group of eight (Go8) as one of Australia’s eight leading research universiti­es.

UWA Internatio­nal Pro Vice-chancellor Iain Watt stated: “We are excited to be working with MTI and for the potential opportunit­ies that Sri Lankan students now have better access to. UWA offers a variety of courses, subjects and cutting edge research opportunit­ies, all of which are highly acclaimed. The university and prospectiv­e Sri Lankan students, have much to benefit mutually, in both cultivatin­g the rich culture of research, and allowing for a holistic education.”

“UWA is the ideal higher education destinatio­n for Sri Lankan students with an interest and passion for research. Undergradu­ate courses, specialize­d Masters, MBAS, Doctoral programmes, Executive Education and cuttingedg­e research are now accessible to students through MTI’S partnering with the World Top 100 University,” said MTI CEO Hilmy Cader.

UWA is a research intensive university offering 68 undergradu­ate majors and 180 postgradua­te courses to 24,000 students representi­ng over 100 countries. UWA is considered one of the leading universiti­es in Australia in research and graduate employabil­ity and its distinguis­hed alumni includes a Nobel Prize Laureate and a former Australian Prime Minister.
