NEW CONSTITUTION: A FORERUNNER TO FEDERAL SYSTEM? - VEN. IDURAGARE THERO

The incumbent government would not bring new constitution to the country rather make the existing government system into a federal system of government, Ven. Iduragare Dammarathana Thera said yesterday.

In a programme held to educate the public about the fake stance of the government, he mentioned that both the President and the PM aimed at bringing a federal system of government by diverting the mindset of the public through bringing in a new Constitution.

“I must say that PM Ranil Wickremesinghe has been preparing the background to create federalism in this country and thus the opportunity is made used to form a federal government through the proposed new constitution,” the prelate added. Pic by Nisal Baduge

He proceeded to say that those who would support or extend consent on the proposed Constitution, would be regarded as traitors and added all people who loved the county should oppose and show their dislike to the new Constitution.

Meanwhile, Ven. Medagama Dhammananda Thera stated that as the present government had lost the people’s votes at the very election held in 2015, it was acting according to the whims and fancies of the NGO’S and other organizations.

“The new Constitution is not in favour of the people but to please the international subjects and the Non-governmental Organizations. The government is not thinking of the welfare of the people but aspiring to fulfil the requirements of the international community,” Ven. Medagama Thera said.
