Sangeeth and Shoel steal the show at Rotterdam Motor Racing in Katukurunda

-

Though wet weather washed away the “PROLOG,” the day before but dry weather prevailed on the race day (Oct tober 15) an exciting racing calendar of events were seen at the Air Force Katukurunda track. There were a few slippery falls of the amateur riders while experienced riders guided themselves to victory.

Hellibees riders Shoel Daniel and Sangeeth Suriyage were the most prolific young riders in their respective events, the Super Sports GP up to 1000 CC and the Super Moto up to 750 CC, rode to victory.

Both have won a hat-trick at this circuit and are currently undisputed champs in their respective fields. Though Suriyage was second runner-up in the Supermoto 250 CC event losing the title to Dushan Mudalige he bounced back at the most high profile Super Moto event, the 750 CC and rode to victory taking the lead at the first goose corner.

Eventually nothing could stop him and he won the event with a comfortable lead of half a lap. Suriyage currently holds the record time of 1.8 minutes for Katukurunda and 0.59 minutes per lap for the Pannala Circuit. Daniel, the current GP champion who won the first GP last year held after the lapse of many years trailed Pramuka Sesath and Caldera for 20 laps but skilfully took the lead and rode to victory. Both riders salute Hellibees for the support extended to them. The race was conducted by SLADA and was sponsored by CEAT Tyres. -SP
