Theme ‘Wanton destruction of the Central Hills is the death of the nation

The seminar to create public awareness on the ongoing destruction of the environment organised by the Matara National Scholars’ Organisation was held at the Matara SANASA conference hall with Vedda Chief Vishwakirthi Wanaspathi Uruwarigelage Vannila Ettho as the chief guest.

The theme of the seminar was “Wanton Destruction of the Central Hills is the Death of the Nation”.

Member of the Central Provincial Council Samantha Vaidyaratne delivered the keynote address while Vedda Chief Vannila Ettho delivered his speech from the chair.

A memento with Vinnila Ettho’s image carved out of wood was presented to him by Dean of the Faculty of Sinhala of the Ruhunu University Prof. Dharma Rajapakse in appreciation of his endeavours in environmental protection.
