SUSPECTS REMANDED TILL NOV. 30

Five admitted to Karapitiya Hospital

Acting Magistrate Lalith Pathirana ordered yesterday (18) to remand 19 suspects who had been arrested in connection with the dispute between two parties in the Gintota area last Friday (16) up to November 30.

Nineteen individual­s were remanded-including two schoolboys aged 16 and 18 who were residents of Gintota, Ginimellag­aha and Karapitiya. The Magistrate further ordered to remand the suspects at the Galle Prison.

The court ordered the underaged schoolboy-who needs to appear for the Ordinary Level Examinatio­n this time-to be kept at a children’s home in Kithulampi­tiya.

Due to the incident between two parties late last week, several stalls, houses and some vehicles were damaged in several places in the Gintota area.

Five wounded individual­s have been admitted to the Karapitiya Teaching Hospital for treatment.

A few individual­s were arrested due to their quarrelsom­e behaviour.

The Police are conducting further investigat­ions to arrest some more suspects, who have been involved in this dispute, on the instructio­ns of DIG Galle Division Chandana Alahakoon, SP Galle V.W. Ginige, ASP Sathis Gamage and Headquarte­r Inspector of Police in Galle Ajith Kumara.

The following individual­s were remanded in this connection:

Geeth Asanka Indunil Weerasingh­e, Nipun Udayanga Kodagoda, W.G. Asanka Sandaruwan Kumara,sudesh Indunil Weerasingh­e, Wannipurag­e Udara Sachinth, Madushanka Rajapaksha,

Y.G. Sampath Kumara, K.l.thilinda Oshan, S.M. Thanura Rasin, Avishka Janidu Mendis Rajakaruna,

H.M. Nissanka, Devagiri Janith Madushanka, Udugampola­ge Malith Isanka, P.K. Dharshana Kalum Sameera, Mohamed Jamaldeen Mohamed Jawfer, Mohamed Shair Mohamed Hilmy, Mohamed Abir Mohamed Prithaous, H.G. Kasun Devendra, E.K. Gayan Indrajith.

The three suspects who were remanded before November 17are: Mohamed Kiyas, (Former member in Bope – Poddala Pradeshiya Saba), Naidatta Waduge Priyashan and Naidatta Waduge Asantha Nuwan Priyashan.
