Romesh and Prasadini adjudged Most Valuable Players at Super League VB finals
D. Romesh Ranawaka of Ceylon Electricity Board and J.H.D. Prasadini of SL Air Force were selected as the Most Valuable Players at the Munchee Nationals Super League Volleyball Tournament concluded at the National Youth Service Council (NYSC), Maharagama.
In the Munchee Nationals Novices competition held parallel to this, the Best Player Award was annexed by P.h.g.ariyaratne of SLAOC Sports Club, Galle and the women’s Best Player was H.P.N.S. Gunewardena of Siri Parakum SC, Galigamuwa.
Ceylon Electricity Board beat Sri Lanka Army to win the men’s Super League championship by 3 sets to nil. Scores: 25-21,25-16 and 25-20.
The women’s Super League championship was annexed by Sri Lanka Air Force who beat SL Army by 3 sets to 1. Scores: 21-25, 25-18,35-33, and 25-15.
In the Novices Tournament SLAOC Sports Club Galle and Siri Parakum Sports Club, Boyagama emerged as the champions in the men’s and women’s championships.
In the men’s final SLAOC beat Golden Tigers SC Kurunegala after a close fight by 3 sets to 2. Scores: 25-22, 25-27,
25-18, 22-25 and 15-11.
In the women’s final Siri Parakuma Boyagama beat Rathanapala SC Mahauswewa by 3 sets to nil. Scores: 25-20, 25-21 and 25-18. Best Performance (Novices Men):
