SRI LANKA LIGHT INFANTRY ARE ARMY PARA TEAM CHAMPIONS
Sri Lanka Light Infantry won the team championship at the Sri Lanka Army Para Games held among several regiments of the Sri Lanka Army. Out of the 11 team games they won seven team games. They won Archery, Powerlifting, Wheelchair Marathon, Sitting Volleyball, Beach Volleyball, Shooting and Indoor Rowing.
They won 44 Gold, 29 Silver and 21 Bronze. They won the Athletics Championships and bagged the Overall Army Para Games Championships as well.
Their full medals tally was: 72 Gold, 56 Silver and 51 Bronze.
In October 2018 the Para Asian Games will take place in Jakarta Indonesia and a pool will soon be established to select a team to take part in the competition. Winners Badminton: Champion – Gajaba Regiment; Runners – SLLI Regiment; Best Player – WO I SD Wijitha – GR.
