ICCSL-CA Sri Lanka facilitate seminar on Foreign Exchange Act

The Internatio­nal Chamber of Commerce Sri Lanka (ICCSL) together with Institute of Chartered Accountant­s of Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka) will be facilitati­ng a joint seminar on the new Foreign Exchange Control Act, on Wednesday, December 13, at the CA auditorium.

The New Foreign Exchange Act No 12 of 2017 repeals the Exchange Control Act no 24 of 1953 (Chapter 423) and focuses on attracting more foreign exchange to the country and facilitate­s Sri Lankan companies to expand overseas.

The keynote presentati­on will be made by Central Bank Foreign Exchange Department Director Udeni Alawattage while Central Bank Senior Assistant Director Legal and Compliance Pavithri Vithanage will also present at the seminar.

The presentati­ons will be followed by a panel discussion. The panellists are Colombo Stock Exchange ICCSL/ Director Shanil Fernando, Secretary, F J & De Saram Precedent Partner Ayomi Aluwihare Gunawarden­a, CA Sri Lanka tax faculty N.R. Gajendran and CA Sri Lanka Taxation Faculty Chairman Duminda Hulangamuw­a will moderate the panel discussion.

Members and nonmembers of both institutes are welcome to participat­e in this seminar, which will help answer queries with regards to the key changes proposed under the new act.
