President to honour ten veteran journalists today
Sri Lanka Press Association (SLPA), the pioneering media association in the country will honour 10 veteran media personalities to mark its 62nd Anniversary Convention to be held today at the Sri Lanka Foundation (SLF) under the patronage of President Maithripala Sirisena.
The SLPA, an umbrella for all professionals in the field of print and electronic media was founded by the erudite scholar, Ven. Udakendawala Siri Saranankara Thera, together with most respected veterans, such as late Hema De Silva and D. F. Kariyakarawana, et al way back in October 1955.

Samaraweera, Minister of Tourism John Amaratunga, Minister of Primary Industries Daya Gamage are to grace the occasion with diplomats, state officials and a 25-member journalist delegation of the Indian Federation of Working Journalists (IFWJ).
During the ceremony, 10 most senior veterans in the field of media who are now in retirement would be offered cash gifts in felicitation.
In addition, the Indian journalists will attend a separate workshop organized at the SLF this morning, in which a group of Sri Lankan Media personnel are expected to interact with them in order to further foster bilateral relations that prevail between Sri Lanka and India.
