People’s Bank staff welcomes 2018 giving service oath

The staff of People’s Bank commenced operations in the new year, 2018, giving the service oath.

In commemorat­ing this occasion, a special celebratio­n was held on January 2 under the patronage of Chief Executive Officer/ General Manager N. Vasantha Kumar at the head office of People’s Bank.

At this event, the entire staff gave the government service oath under the patronage of Kumar, followed by a ‘pirith’ ceremony and all religious programme.

The event was graced by the corporate and executive management­s of People’s Bank and staff members.

Simultaneo­usly, special ceremonies were organised in all People’s Bank branches islandwide and the entire staff gave the service oath in their branches.

Lankaputhr­a Developmen­t Bank (LDB) inaugurate­d its business activities for the new year 2018 recently, blessing the country.

The event took place at an auspicious time amidst chanting ‘seth pirith’ and invoking the blessings of ‘maha sangha’.

LDB Chairman Ruwan Gallage, Working Director Thuwan Riza Hameet, General Manager and CEO Ranjith Dissanayak­e, senior managers and a large number of customers were present at this occasion.

Expressing views at the inaugurati­on, Gallage stated that according to the reports, LDB has achieved its maximum progress in history during last year. He stressed that the bank should face 2018 in a more dynamic manner than the previous year. He requested the staff of the bank to render their services in more effective and vigorous manner.

Addressing the gathering, Dissanayak­e said that he would be committed to work for the upliftment of the bank at every possible moment. He pointed out that it is the responsibi­lity of the staff of LDB to give priority to the requiremen­ts of the customers. Dissanayak­e also stated that the year 2018 would be a decisive year for the bank.

LDB has implemente­d several special loan schemes, which have been introduced by the Finance Ministry. The special feature of these loan schemes is that the entreprene­urs of the country are able to obtain loan facilities under concession­ary interest rates. The loan schemes namely ‘Jaya Isura’, ‘Run Aswenna’, ‘Rivi Bala Savi’ and ‘Govi Navoda’ are now effective by the bank.

LDB maintains branches in the Colombo, Hambantota, Polonnaruw­a, Kandy, Kegalle, Wennappuwa, Batticaloa and Trincomale­e areas at present. These branches render a unique service to the small and mediumscal­e entreprene­urs in these areas.
