Daraz.lk announces Avurudu Wasi

Daraz.lk, the online shop, sees a lot of potential in Sri Lanka as it has so many expansion plans starting with entreprene­urs, Daraz. lk Country Manager Bart Van Dijk said at a press conference, yesterday.

Rolling out one of its campaigns in the calendar, he said that they are planning to have Sri Lanka’s biggest Avurudu sale, after having Sri Lanka’s biggest online sale— Black Friday, last year.

“The purpose of the Avurudu Wasi sale is to ensure that everyone is able to enjoy the Sinhala and Tamil New Year by giving and receiving gifts in the true Avurudu spirit, regardless of their respective budgets. Avurudu Wasi promises something for everyone no matter his or her age, gender, taste or budget,” he said.

Beginning on March 15 and ending on April 15, Avurudu Wasi will be conducted by Daraz.lk in partnershi­p with Reckitt Benkiser, Brother, Standard Chartered Bank and Seylan Bank.

Through this campaign, they expect to reach six billion people and expect around 200,000 orders to come in with over Rs.100 million as expected revenue, Mirror Business learns.

“What we are trying to push in Sri Lanka is we see a lot of potential for mobile applicatio­ns. We have about 3000 app downloads as of now; we expect it to reach 1.5 million by the end of the year,” the company further said.

Avurudu Wasi offers discounts as large as 85 percent as well as discounts up to 10 percent and instalment plans for maximum of 24 months, provided by the event’s official banking partners.

The category unlock process will begin on March 15 and go on till March 24, when all categories will be unlocked.

The 10 categories are – Grocer’s Shop, Health and Beauty, Babies, Kids and Toys, Men’s Fashion, Women’s Fashion, Home and Living, TVS, Audio and Cameras, Computing and Gaming, Appliances and Mobile and Tablets.

An official pre-order launch of the brand-new Samsung S9 will also be part of the sale’s agenda.

It was noted that Daraz. lk strives to build the most customer-centric online destinatio­n, where the customers can find and discover virtually anything they want to buy online by giving them more of what they want – a vast selection, best prices, fast and reliable delivery and a trusted and convenient experience with a world-class e-commerce platform.
