HNB WINS LEAGUE NETBALL CHAMPIONSHIP
The champion HNB team with officials and Chief Guest
Hatton National Bank (HNB) won the Mercantile League Netball Championship for the second successive year at the competition held at the Torrington Indoor Stadium, Colombo 7.
The tournament was conducted by the Mercantile Netball Association.
The A Division final was between HNB and Citizens Development Bank (CDB). The final score was 63-44 in favour of HNB.
In the first quarter HNB led 14-8, in the second quarter HNB were 32-21 and in the third quarter they were in the lead 45-32. Expo Lanka came in third place. The Mercantile Netball Queen was T. Abitha (Citizens Development Bank).
In the B Division final Sampath Bank beat Omega Line 20-17 and the third place was taken by Singer Sri Lanka.
In the C Division final Access Group were the champions with Fair First INS as the runners-up with the final score
being 28-15. The third place was taken by Commercial Leasing. Plate winners were MAS Active. In the Mixed Division CDB overcame HNB 22-18 and the third place was taken by LB Finance.
In the Masters Championship Speed Birds were the champions while the Bridgetians were runners-up.
