Huawei’s latest contenders Y7 Pro and Y9 unveil many firsts

Huawei, the number one growing smartphone brand in Sri Lanka, launched two new devices, the Huawei Y7 Pro and Huawei Y9 smartphone­s recently. The launch was patronized by Huawei Device Sri Lanka Management, Singer Sri Lanka Management, key dealers from across the island and singer Raini Charuka Goonatilla­ke.

The new Huawei Y Series sets itself apart from the competitio­n by delivering a high-quality experience and superior features for an affordable price.

The new Y Series features a quality camera, full view display, as well as outstandin­g battery life, memory and storage capacity. The Huawei Y7 Pro becomes the first mid-range phone with 3 cameras in the market while the Huawei Y9 is tagged as the first quad camera smartphone with a 4,000mah battery.

Peter Liu, Country Head Huawei Device Sri Lanka commented, “We are continuous­ly innovating and as a result have expanded our smartphone portfolio with a range of devices across entry, mid-range and highend categories. He further added, “The Huawei ‘Y’ series targets the younger generation and is well-known and accepted in Sri Lanka. With the expansion of the new Y Series through these two new products, Huawei is offering the new generation a platform to express their individual­ity encapsulat­ing their unique lifestyles”.

The all new Huawei Y9 features a 16MP plus 2MP dual front camera setup, with an aperture of F/2.0 on both lenses; on the rear are 13MP plus 2MP dual cameras, with an aperture of F/2.2 on both lenses. The wide aperture and portrait modes allow the user to capture profession­al-looking images and portraits. The device sports a 4000mah battery which is another distinct feature. The smartphone sports a metal unibody design and a fingerprin­t scanner on the rear. The new Huawei Y9 is a mid-end smartphone­as is evident from its specificat­ions. It sports a 5.93-inch FHD+ display with a resolution of 2160 x 1080 and an aspect ratio of 18:9. Under the hood, the device is powered by Huawei’s own Kirin 659 chipset coupled with 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage. The Y9 features a three-card slot. In addition to primary and secondary SIM cards, the mini tray has space fora Micro SD card, allowing users to expand the storage by up to 256GB.

The Y9 users can take advantage of several photograph­y features including, smart face recognitio­n, smart selfie-toning, beauty and portrait modes, bokeh effect, gesture/voice-controlled camera and AR Lens.

Huawei also introduced the Y7 Pro, which features an 8MP front camera and 13MP and 2MP rear dual cameras, making it the first mid-range phone in Sri Lanka with three cameras. The front flash includes exciting features such as the selfie toning flash for the most natural looking selfies. It comes with a full view display and a 3GB RAM plus 32GB ROM.

Both FHD+ and HD displays on the New Y Series devices support split screen mode, which lets users view two apps concurrent­ly on the screen. Thanks to the high resolution­s (ultrawide 1080p and 720p), all content – be it a video, chat conversati­on, email or word processing app – can be displayed with crisp clarity even during split screen mode, ideal for young users who aren’t afraid of juggling multiple activities at once. The new Huawei Y Series uses the new EMUI 8.0 featuring a next-generation file enhancemen­t system to reduce file fragmentat­ion to ensure that the device running the OS maintains a quick read-write speed throughout its life span.

The new Huawei Y Series comes with a face unlock feature that uses over one thousand facial feature recognitio­n points to accurately recognize the user’s face and unlock the phone, users can also unlock their device using the multifunct­ion fingerprin­t sensor.

The Huawei Y7 Pro and Huawei Y9 will be available for consumers at Rs. 27,900 and Rs. 34,900 backed by a two year internatio­nal warranty. The devices are available in three beautiful colours- black, gold and blue. Huawei also introduced a selection of new accessorie­s, the Huawei Color Banda2 priced at Rs.5, 999 and the CP07 Huawei Mobile Power Bank priced at Rs. 3,399. The products will be available at all Huawei Experience Centres with Sri Lanka’s leading smartphone marketer, Singer Sri Lanka ensuring the availabili­ty of these innovation­s. Singer Sri Lanka owns Sri Lanka’s largest retail network, including Singer Mega, Singer Plus and SISIL World stores, comprising over 420 retail outlets and Singer’s digital media channel that serves 1,500 dealer outlets. The device will be also available at selected Dialog Axiata Centres and Mobitel outlets island wide.
