Chinese scholar appointed Associate Director of Sri Lanka-china Centre

The Pathfinder Foundation has appointed Dr. Zhao Ying, as Associate Director of its China-sri Lanka Cooperatio­n Studies Centre (CSLCSC).

Dr. Ying is currently an academic at the School of Journalism and Communicat­ions of the China Southwest University of Political Science and Law.

Dr. Ying will function under the overall supervisio­n of the Executive Director of the Pathfinder Foundation, and Director of the CSLCSC, Luxman Siriwardan­a. Dr. Ying holds a Bachelors degree in the Science of Law, a First-class Master’s degree in Civil and Commercial Law and a PH.D in Commercial Law. She is currently following a post-doctoral program in Economic Law. Her teaching and research interests include Intellectu­al Property Law, Economic Law, Media law, Financial Law and Financial Security within the Belt and Road Initiative.

The Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Sri Lanka and the South West University of Political Science and Law have providedas­sistance and support for this initiative. Dr. Ying will provide valuable insight into the Chinese perspectiv­e for the activities of the Studies Centre.

The CSLCSC was initially set up by the Pathfinder Foundation in October 2015 and is the only Sri-lankan institutio­n which exclusivel­y focuses on the China-sri Lanka relationsh­ip. The CSLCSC has a counterpar­t centre located at the prestigiou­s Shanghai Institutes of Internatio­nal Relations in China.
