Sri Lanka to send largest business delegation to London

-

Sri Lanka is to send its largest business and trade delegation to the Commonwealth this year.

“Sri Lanka is one of the strategic partner countries of 2018 CBF. Therefore the Department of Commerce is organising many informative country presentations, B2BS and roundtables on Lankan sectors of investment for CBF in London,” said the Minister of Industry and Commerce Rishad Bathiudeen, addressing a preparatory meeting organised by his Department of Commerce of Sri Lanka (DOCSL) with Lankan business and government representatives on the forthcoming CBF yesterday.

Joining Minister Bathiudeen were Director General of Commerce Sonali Wijeratne and Kosala Wickramanayake who lead the International Business Council (IBC) of Sri Lanka.

Minister Bathiudeen is scheduled to lead delegation of over 50 members to London from Sri Lanka, the largest Lankan delegation in CBF’S history for CBF held in London from April 16-18. Sri Lanka is considered as one of the major “emergent FDI attracting Commonwealth Destinations” (along with Bangladesh and Singapore). Around 27 percent of Sri Lanka’s annual global trade in goods are being done with the Commonwealth while 40 percent of Sri Lanka’s global trade in services are done with the Commonwealth.

Representatives from Sri Lankan ITC sector have informed that they will launch Sri Lanka’s new ICT branding called as “Island of Ingenuityknowledge Solutions” at 2018 CBF country presentations.
