IPM conducts advanced management developmen­t programme for BOC

IPM Sri Lanka, the nation’s leader in human resource management, recently inaugurate­d an advanced Management Developmen­t Programme (MDP) for the senior management of Bank of Ceylon (BOC).

This advanced MDP which has been designed exclusivel­y for Bank of Ceylon by a team of business and HR experts attached to the Corporate Training and Consultanc­y Division of IPM Sri Lanka will be of a four-month duration, and will be held at the IPM Sri Lanka Head Office ‘HR House’ in Polhengoda, Colombo 05. Over 41 senior management staff from Bank of Ceylon will be participat­ing in this advanced MDP.

“We as the nation’s leader in human resource management are delighted to work together with Bank of Ceylon, the bankers to the nation to organise this advanced management developmen­t programme for the bank’s senior management team. Being the leaders in our own fields, we believe that this collaborat­ion is a good fit which will help yield long term benefits for Bank of Ceylon in attaining its strategic goals and objectives,” said IPM Sri Lanka Chief Executive Officer P.G. Tennakoon, speaking at the inaugurati­on ceremony of the programme.

“The main objective of this programme is to develop future leaders and to select the right person for the right position in taking the bank to its next level of growth and expansion. We are confident that IPM Sri Lanka, as the leading profession­al HR body can help us to develop our management team to be top class managers,” said Bank of Ceylon Human Resource Deputy General Manager K.E.D. Sumanasiri.

The advanced MDP is a dynamic systemwide training programme that is designed to enhance and strengthen leadership capabiliti­es and ensure that the participan­ts have the skills, knowledge and resources to effectivel­y lead, engage, and develop their teams. It consists core modules of people management, employee engagement and change management which are essential developmen­t areas for senior management personnel, and will provide the foundation for those in leadership positions to think, act and lead from the new management model. Participan­ts will learn powerful concepts and tools to help them lead, support, and inspire a talented workforce.

The contents of this programme were designed by IPM in discussion and consultati­on with Bank of Ceylon giving due considerat­ion to the bank’s strategic goals and objectives. An eminent panel of experience­d high profile resource personnel from the IPM Corporate Training and Consultanc­y Division will conduct the advanced MDP. The content is delivered via interactiv­e classroom lectures, presentati­ons, videos and discussion­s.
