Kodomo contributes to Little Hearts to assist Lady Ridgeway Hospital
Kodomo Kiddies Toothpaste marketed by UTN Trading Company (Pvt.) Ltd recently contributed to the Little Hearts project initiated with the support of Sri Lanka College of Pediatricians to gather funds to expedite the construction of Lady Ridgeway Hospital’s Cardiac and Critical Care Complex.
This initiative will allow the hospital to provide timely treatment to all children in need. Lady Ridgeway Hospital for Children (LRH) is the only tertiary care referral centre for children with congenital heart disease (CHD) and other critical illnesses in the country.
As one of the growing international kiddies brands, ‘Kodomo’ is happy to contribute this great project which save thousands of children with heart diseases and critical illnesses in Sri Lanka who do not have timely access to treatment.
Sri Lanka’s premium glove manufacturer and exporter, ATG Group of Companies recently donated an industrial washing machine to the Mahara Prison through their CSR arm, ‘Mahisa’.
The machine was handed over at a simple ceremony held at the prison premises which was participated by the Senior Superintended of Mahara Prison, other prison officials, representatives of the ATG Group and inmates.
Addressing the gathering, Senior Superintended of Mahara Prison, T.I. Uduwara thanked the ATG Group profusely for their generous contribution and admired the fact that the company took the effort to reach out and empower one of the most marginalised communities in society - prisoners.
“We would like to thank the ATG Group for their thoughtful gesture. We hope in future more private sector organisations will take the initiative to partner with state organisations - like hospitals, prisons, schools and more - and help enhance these facilities,” he opined.
Speaking at the event, ATG Group of Companies Director General Upali Karunathilake said: “In the past and even at present, we work very closely with public sector organisations like schools and hospitals that serve the general public.
We hope to forge more fruitful relationships in the future too and look at empowering especially marginalised and overlooked segments of society. In that regard, we believe we have taken a step in the right direction.”
Located in the Gampaha District, the Mahara prison houses approximately 1,400 male inmates ranging from ages 16 to 80. The capacity of the washing machine is 100 kilos.
