NDB holds Sooriya Mangalyaya in celebration of Avurudu

NDB organized an Avurudu celebration – NDB Soorya Mangalyaya at the Aqua Pearl Lake Resort Moratuwa to celebrate the Sinhala and Tamil New Year with the bank’s staff. The event was a whole new experience for the NDB staff with the traditional village atmosphere and recreated traditional Avurudu offerings.

Organized by the NDB Staff Recreational Club, the Soorya Mangalyaya was a massive success, with the attendance of NDB staff and their families.

Various Avurudu Kreeda (Avurudu Games) such as Pillowfight - (Kotta Pora), tug-o-war(kamba Adeema), breaking the pots - (Kanamutti bindeema), three-legged race and the traditional Avurudu Kumara and Avurudu Kumariya took place among the NDB staff.

Several games such as placing the eye on the elephant- (Aliyata asa thabeema), eating buns (Banis kema) and a Fancy Dress Parade were held as well, for the children of the staff members.

The NDB Staff Recreational Club often organizes such events in order to encourage the bank’s employees, their spouses and families to be a part of the bank via its many recreation activities. The bank’s ultimate goal is to ensure employee satisfaction to the maximum.

The NDB Soorya Mangalyaya was a massive success among the NDB staff.
