- BY CHATURANGA SAMARAWICKRAMA

Politicians who do not have people’s vote trying to create political instability in the country, Petroleum Resources Development Minister Arjuna Ranatunga said.

Participating at a religious ceremony held at Dematagoda yesterday Minister said those politicians were planning to topple the government.

“There is no political instability. But several incidents were reported which should not have happened. Those incidents were started by the politicians who have greedy for power. Some politicians think they can win the elections with the power of money and think that they can topple the government,” Minister said.

Therefore, investments have stopped coming into the country due to the destruction caused by gamblers. Those kind of politicians do not consider about the country, he said.

“The recent Cabinet reshuffle took place after the discussions made by the President and the Prime Minister. We have 18 months more. People expect us to correct ourselves and go forward.

In 2015, people gave their mandate to the President and the PM to rule the country together but not to establish either SLFP or UNP government.

Pure politics necessary for the country and that would be our responsibility after the Cabinet reshuffle” Minister Ranatunga further added.
