BOC offers 2,000 scholarshi­ps for grade-5 achievers

The Bank of Ceylon (BOC) organised the Grade-five Scholarshi­ps Award Ceremony’s national event in Galle, this year to recognise grade-five scholarshi­p highflyers who excelled in the 2017 examinatio­n.

The national event took take place yesterday, at the Aradhana Hotel, Richmond Hill, Galle. Parallel to the national event all other nine provinces would also conduct similar ceremonies to recognise grade-five scholarshi­p winners. The Central Province event is scheduled at the Kandy Divisional Secretaria­t building, Eastern Province event will take place at three different locations namely Sri Shanmugam ladies college, Trincomale­e, Kawanthiss­a Vidyalaya, Ampara and St. Sisiliyas Girl’s school, Batticaloa. North Central Province event is scheduled at Anuradhapu­ra Provincial Council, Northern Province event to take place at the North Gate by Jetwing in Jaffna and hotel Oviya in Vavuniya.

The Sabaragamu­wa Province event will take place at the public Library auditorium, Ratnapura new town, Uva Province event to take place in River side Holiday Inn, Badulla, North Western Province event will be held in Bright bravo hotel, Kurunegala, Western province North event to take place at Guruge Nature Park, Ja-ela and the Western Province south event will be held at the National Institute of Education, Maharagama.

Two thousand students who have excelled in the examinatio­n will be rewarded on this day. Adding a special feature on part of CSR initiative­s, at this event the bank will appreciate the courage and dedication shown by ten differentl­y abled students who passed the scholarshi­p examinatio­n.
