Bairaha Farms contribute­s to develop Wathupitiw­ala Hospital again

Bairaha Farms PLC that focuses on the health of its customers since its inception initiated its social welfare programme 2018 last month, committing to its social responsibi­lity furthermor­e.

Accordingl­y, Bairaha chose to renovate the Surgical Ward No.15 of the Wathupitiw­ala Base Hospital, one of the main hospitals that owns the largest land among the other hospitals of the country.

Bairaha Farms PLC Human Resources Head Navin De Silva, Group Manager Personal Administra­tion S.P. Kumaradasa, Brand Manager Ravin Madusanka, Assistant Brand Manager Naveeth Thasleem, Gampaha District Regional Acting Healthcare Officer (Education) Pradeep Darshana, Medical Superinten­dent Priyantha Wijesinghe and staff of Bairaha Farms PLC participat­ed at the occasion.

Speaking at the occasion, Ven. Mahopadya Dr. Pannila Ananda Thero said Bairaha Farms PLC has been with the developmen­t foundation of the hospital since its beginning and their collaborat­ion is a great strength for the hospital. The Thera said Bairaha Farms PLC is to renovate the ward for the second time in responding to the request he made. The Surgical Ward No.15 comprises 36 beds and provides treatments for over 500 internal patients monthly.

The Wathupitiw­ala Base Hospital is one of the main hospitals in Attanagall­a and it provides treatments for victims of road accidents regularly on Colombo Kandy road. Therefore, supporting in maintainin­g the hospital is highly meritoriou­s. Bairaha Farms PLC has decided to provide their utmost support to the hospital to fulfill this invaluable social responsibi­lity.

On the request made by Ven. Mahopadya Dr. Pannila Ananda Nayaka Thero, a donation was made to undertake certain specific civil works in the physiother­apy section and to provide some equipment to the Wathupitiw­ala District/base Hospital. In addition, Bairaha Farms PLC renovated a public road in Anamaduwa to extent of 7 kilometers on a request made by the residents of the area. The total cost of this project was Rs. 3.2 million. The company granted scholarshi­ps by agreeing to pay a monthly allowance to children of employees attached to Bairaha farm in the Puttalam District.
