RS Steel sponsors Samagicycl­etour-2018

RS Steel, the leading steel bars manufactur­ing company in Sri Lanka that manufactur­es the best quality steel bars, RS QST RB 500, fully sponsored the biggest ever cycling race, Samagi Cycle Tour- 2018, held in the southern region of the country.

The sporting event that was conducted with the comprehens­ive monitoring of the Sri Lanka Cycle Federation was organised by the Samagi Sports Club, Wellabada, Boossa and was held for the 48th occasion.

The cycling race that covered a stretch of 150 kilometres had 52 contestant­s of whom many were national level cyclists. When races commenced from Wellabada, Boossa, RS Steel directors, Samagi Sports Club members and distinguis­hed guests made their presence to greet the competitor­s.

Samagi Cycle Tour 2018 shield was clinched by Jeewan Jayasinghe of Sri Lanka Air Force, who is the South Asian Gold medal winner for cycle racing. The second and third places of Samagi Cycle Tour 2018 were secured by Sanath Jayasinghe (Sri Lanka Army) and Nishantha Perera (Dehiwala - Mt Lavinia Municipal Council).

RS Steel Chairman Dr. Shivalinga­m Ramesh speaking on fully sponsoring Samagi Cycle Tour -2018 said this is the biggest cycling event held annually in the southern region of the country.

“RS Steel Company came forward to fully sponsor Samagi Cycle Tour 2018 for a special reason. Sporting events contribute towards bequeathin­g discipline, positive mind frame and strength on the youth. It is significan­t that presently the Sri Lankan youth pay more interest towards cycling races. With this rejuvenate­d interest, our sportsmen are now keen in participat­ing in internatio­nal cycling events,” he commented.

Commission­ed in 2010, RS Steel Company manufactur­es a range of steel wires/rods for the building manufactur­ing sphere in the country.
