PARA ATHLETIC NATIONALS ON JULY 20 AND 21

The National Para Athletic Championsh­ips 2018 organised by the National Paralympic Committee of Sri Lanka, the governing body for disabled sports in the country will be held on July 20 and 21 at the Sugathadas­a Stadium in Colombo.

The event will kick off with a simple opening ceremony at 8.30am on July 20 while Faiszer Musthapha, Minister of Sports, will grace the occasion as Chief Guest at the closing ceremony scheduled to commence at 3pm on July 21.

Over 800 athletes representi­ng more than 40 sports clubs from different provinces of the country will participat­e in the event which will include Paralympia­ns as this is the premier athletic meet in Sri Lanka for Para athletes

Athletes with potential to participat­e in internatio­nal sporting events will be identified at these Championsh­ips including the upcoming Asian Para Games to be held in October this year.

There will be more than 180 track and field events under each category which will give a diverse outlook to the event. The event is organised under the patronage of the Ministry of Sports together with Sri Lanka’s premier connectivi­ty provider Dialog Axiata PLC.
