Bangladesh ‘A’ edge-out SL ‘A’ by two runs

Pacemen Khaled Ahmed and Shoriful Islam shared seven wickets between them as Bangladesh ‘A’ edged-out Sri Lanka ‘A’ by two runs in the first unofficial ODI played in Sylhet yesterday.

Khaled took four wickets, including that of Shehan Madushanka off the last ball, with the visitors needing three runs to win.

Madushanka had threatened to take Sri Lanka ‘A’ towards their victory target after having hoisted three sixes during his 12-ball 21 runs.

However the visitors were eventually bowled out for 278 runs after Bangladesh who were put into bat had posted a formidable 280 for seven in 50 overs.

Sri Lanka ‘A’ slumped to 72 for four at one stage before they recovered through Ashan Priyanjan and Dasun Shanaka who added 84 runs for the fifth wicket.

Shanaka top scored with a runa-ball 78 that included six sixes and two fours.

Shoriful took three wickets, while Ariful Haque took two wickets following his sparkling 47 off 22 balls which included four sixes and three fours.

Earlier, Mizanur Rahman top scored for Bangladesh ‘A’ making 67 off 107 balls while Captain Mohammad Mithun scored 44 runs. The second one-day match will be worked off at the same venue on July 19.
