CPC to increase fuel Bowser hiring charges
The Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) yesterday announced that it had decided to increase the hiring charges based on per km for bowsers which transport fuel, effective from June 15 this year.
The decision was taken after considering issues the bowser owners face due to fuel price increase.
Accordingly, the hiring charges for a 13,200-gallon bowser will be increased to Rs.151.64 per km for down south transportation and Rs.178.31 per km for transporting fuel to up country.
The rates for a 19,800-gallon bowser will be increased to Rs.206.34 per km for down south transportation and Rs.242.01 per km for up-country transportation.
A 33,000-gallon bowser will be hired at Rs.301.97 per km for down south transport while Rs.340.75 per km for carrying fuel to up country. Earlier, the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation’s Private Bowser Owners Association (CPPBOA) demanded that hiring charges for a 13, 200-gallon bowser should be increased by 12.5% while hiring charges for 19,800 and 33,000-gallon bowsers should be increased by 9%.
The decision to increase hiring rates for bowsers was taken during a meeting with the CPPBOA on July 17 with Petroleum Resources Development Minister Arjuna Ranatunga and CPC Chairman Dhammika Ranatunga.
Following the meeting with the Bowser owners’association, the Minister had said the rate per km would be reconsidered after the pricing formula during the next three months.
