He said so while observing the progress of the construction work of Sella Kataragama Park. In this park accommodation facilities will be provided for devotees who visit the religious places of worship.
The UDA is constructing the park at a cost of Rs. 50 million. Minister Ranawaka said that under the Kataragama development initiative all the boutiques will be shifted to a common location.
He further said that the UDA will resolve the prevailing sanitary issues in the area completely by 2019. Minister explained that the Moneragala District is the most poverty-stricken people living district and therefore the Government should pay more attention to develop under the Government’s biggest development initiative ’Gamperaliya’.
“Kataragama is a pilgrimage town and has a historical importance that dates back to ‘Sugaladevi’.there was no electricity to the area when I visited here during my tenure as Minister of Power and Renewable Energy. All the villages in the area received electricity during this period. It is essential to develop Moneragala, the most ignored district,” he said.
