Ministry of Crab flies Thai Airways for final pop up in Bangkok

Marking its final guest appearance in Bangkok, Asia’s 50 Best Restaurant, Ministry of Crab is all set to pop up at the Banyan Tree, Bangkok, from August 9-11, 2018.

Chef Dharshan Munidasa accompanie­d with his team will be flying to Bangkok with the event’s airline partner, Thai Airways to champion the famous Sri Lankan crab at a three-day pop up catering up to 200 diners.

Providing a sneak peak of the Ministry of Crab experience ahead of its restaurant opening in Bangkok, the patrons of the award-winning restaurant will be served a four-course dinner during the pop up. The specially curated menu will include its decadent starter, the creamy Crab Liver Pâté; the rich and savoury Baked Crab; the flavoursom­e Garlic Chilli Prawn and the fiery Pepper Crab.

Celebratin­g Sri Lanka’s mud crabs and freshwater prawns, Ministry of Crab with its streak of internatio­nal pop ups has spread the heritage of Sri Lanka’s culinary culture across the global culinary landscape.

“It is indeed an honour to be Ministry of Crab’s airline partner for their final pop up in Bangkok,” said Thai Airways General Manager Sri Lanka and The Maldives Narintorn Sukkaseam.

“Both Bangkok and Colombo are known for their unique styles of cuisine and we are happy to bridge the culinary experience­s between the two countries through this partnershi­p.”

An urban resort in the heart of Bangkok, Banyan Tree is the city’s only five-star all-suite hotel offering Bangkok’s largest luxurious accommodat­ion, with world-class dining experience­s, meeting and event spaces and an award-winning spa. The Ministry of Crab pop up will take place at the hotels heightened bar, overlookin­g the city’s skyline.

“This is going to be our final pop up in Bangkok before we open doors of our very own Ministry of Crab in the city,” remarked Munidasa. “It will be our way of welcoming guests to get a glimpse of what will be in store for them soon at our Bangkok outpost in Sukhumvit. I’d also like to say a special thank you to our airline partner, Thai Airways for their support extended during this pop-up.”
