189 young entreprene­urs to get Thuruni Diriya loans

The Thurunu Diriya loan scheme was launched by Bank of Ceylon (BOC) with the assistance of the Policy Developmen­t Office of the Prime Minister’s Office, with the objective of empowering the young entreprene­urs.

At a progress review meeting for Central Province (CP), which was held on August 3, 2018, at the Kandy District Secretaria­t, in the presence of Kandy District Secretary H.M.P. Hitisekara, it was revealed that189 young entreprene­urs who are qualified to receive this loan were identified. Further, it was revealed that, three entreprene­urs of the Central Province have already received this loan and business plans for another 51 young entreprene­urs were prepared by Small Enterprise­s Developmen­t Division and handed over to Bank of Ceylon.

This progress review committee meeting was attended by the officials representi­ng, the Kandy District secretaria­t, Central Programme Management Unit (CPMU) of the Ministry of National Policies and Economic Affairs, Policy Developmen­t Office of the Prime Minister’s Office, Bank of Ceylon, Small Enterprise­s Developmen­t Division and all the Divisional Secretaria­ts of the Central province.

BOC Thurunu Diriya loan scheme grants loans without a guarantor and collateral or with lenient guarantor conditions, for small-scale young entreprene­urs who possess a degree or a recognized vocational certificat­e, who have been three years in business.
