Vindy Trading introduces economical, eco-friendly solution for city travellers
As fuel prices continuously rise, many around the world have switched to electric motorcycles and as their popularity spreads, Vindy Trading (Pvt) Ltd. under the trade name of ALFA Electric Bikes too has introduced a series of electric motorcycles to the Sri Lankan market.
Vindy Trading Pvt Ltd, Managing Director, Jagath Karunaratne who has made the company a pioneer in the electric motorcycle market in the country, said the demand for electric motorcycles was increasing in the country but due to the uncertainty in switching from petroleum to electric, the rate of adoption of electric motorcycles was slow. At the same time the slow progress was also due to the result of many electric motorcycle companies which initially imported vehicles to Sri Lanka having soon shut down and leaving many customers without an agent for after sale services. However, Vindy Trading Company which started in 2006 has made unhindered progress and the main reasons for this are; the quality of motorcycles imported, the great after sales support and the good word of satisfied customers that send new customers to the company.
E-bikes were introduced to help people commute more economically. When it comes to fuel costs, petroleumbased motorcycles cost Rs 4-5 per kilometre while an electric motorcycle only costs Rs. 50 cents per kilometre.
Electric motorcycles also have no noise, vibrations, smoke and heat, making it a cost-effective option that also helps you contribute towards the protection of the environment. Further, maintenance costs are at a minimum and the company offers several motorcycle models ranging from Rs. 130,000 to Rs 375,000.
These electric-powered models do not compromise on performance, with speeds ranging from a maximum of 55km/hr to 110km/hr, covering distances between 70 and 180 kms with a single charge.
The motorcycles can be purchased at any ALFA agent outlet around the island with leasing facilities being made available to the customer through Alliance Finance.
