Nokia 7 Plus gets Android Pie developer preview

-

Following Google’s Android ‘Pie’ announcement, HMD Global, the home of Nokia phones, will roll out the latest Android developer preview build— DP4 (Beta 4)—for the Nokia 7 Plus.

The Finnish mobile company will bring its users one step closer to the final Android 9 Pie experience, which Google claims to harness the power of AI for a truly intuitive experience.

The latest developer preview build for the Nokia 7 Plus brings along with it a new settings menu and a new notification panel. It brings adaptive battery power prioritization, adaptive brightness and app actions as well.

HMD Global recently said that the preview build had been rolled out before the stable release to ensure no glitches. The new update brings a lot of improvements but it also brings gestures to the Nokia 7 Plus. The feature will allow users to switch quickly between apps using the new omnidirectional home button, as well as make split screen views simple to activate.

The developer preview build is designed to help developers create, test and enrich their apps in readiness for Play Store certification on Android 9 Pie. To date, more than 65,000 Nokia smartphone users have participated in the beta labs and developer preview programmes with subsequent updates becoming available via OTA (over-the-air) and manual sideload flash. The Nokia 7 Plus is currently among a small handful of handsets, which can access Android’s latest developer preview build.

To receive OTA updates for the preview build or sideload it manually, Nokia 7 Plus users will need to register their respective devices on the Nokia developer website. For users that do not wish to wait for the OTA, they can sideload it manually by flashing the ROM onto their device.
