No radioactive items can be imported through Singapore FTA: Champika
The special equipment installed at the harbour was given to us by the US Nuclear Energy Institute. We have empowered the AEA to conduct any kind of test on radioactive
Megapolis and Western Development Minister Patali Champika Ranawaka on Saturday said radioactive items cannot be imported into Sri Lanka through the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) signed with Singapore. He expressed these views to journalists after handing over the pool built for the convenience of elephants parading the Kandy Esala Perahera.
Responding to journalists, the minister said they have installed a special equipment at the harbour which can detect any radioactive goods.
“the Atomic Energy Authority (AEA) was under my supervision for a decade. The special equipment installed at the harbour was given to us by the US Nuclear Energy Institute. We have empowered the AEA to conduct any kind of test on radioactive. Therefore, no radioactive can be brought down to Sri Lanka through the FTA. This is a complete lie,” he said. Meanwhile, he said Rajapaksa family members think that blood flows only through their veins and other people have mud in their circulatory system.
“No Rajapaksa family member including Basil or Gotabaya had succeeded in making a single government institute profitable. They know how to spend but not to earn. The best examples are the Hambantota port, Airport and Srilankan. This is the economic management of the Rajapaksas. People who are intelligent will not give a second chance to Rajapaksas. Only slaves will do that,” he said.
