Sending war heroes to prison worse than acts committed by LTTE: Thera
Kataragama Sri Abhinawaramadhipathi Ven. Kapugama Sri Saranatissa Thera said that the plans being hatched by the western forces along with the so-called Human Rights Organizations to incarcerate war heroes, were far more dangerous than acts perpetrated by the LTTE as a terrorist outfit.
He was delivering an Anusasana after religious activities and Satyakriya and Adhishtana Pooja organized for the 24th time by Mahajana Eksath Peramuna (M.E.P) at the premisses of the Kataragama Kirivehera.
This pooja and Satyakriya were held after offering flowers and Buddha pooja with the participation of MEP leader MP Dinesh Gunawardene, Maha Sangha and former ministers and parliamentarians.
Ven. Thera added: “There was a time when even Kataragama was marked under the ‘Eelam’ map during the 30 year war. It was a time when the government leaders were

murdered in cold blood. People could not go by a bus in those days. It was also a time when the Buddhist devotees were massacred near the Sri Maha Bodhi including Buddhist monks, pregnant mothers and infants. But it is a matter for regret that some people have forgotten the heinous crimes committed by the LTTE.”
He said that Mr. Gunawardene is holding Poojas before the Kirivehera in a bid to protect the territorial integrity, the unitary state of the country and Buddha Sasana with the participation of the Maha Sangha and other organizations.
On this occasion, chief incumbents of the temples, former deputy speaker Chandima Weerakkody, Geethanjana Gunawardene and several other politicians participated.
