Crossings account for 63% of the turnover

The ASPI closed in green as a result of price gains in counters such as Dialog Axiata, Lanka Orix Leasing Company and Hatton National Bank with the turnover crossing Rs 404 Mn. Meanwhile, the S&P SL20 edged up. Crossings were witnessed in Lion Brewery and Hatton plantation­s, accounting for 62.8% of the turnover. Mixed interest was observed in Dialog Axiata whilst retail interest was noted in MTD Walkers. Furthermor­e, foreigners remained active closing as net sellers. Total foreign sales accounted for 67.4% of the turnover.

Beverage, Food and Tobacco sector was the top contributo­r to the market turnover (due to Lion Brewery) whilst the sector index gained 0.17%. The share price of Lion Brewery increased by Rs 5.00 (0.78%) to close at Rs 650.00.

Plantation­s sector was the second highest contributo­r to the market turnover (due to Hatton Plantation­s) whilst the sector index decreased by 0.22%. The share price of Hatton Plantation­s gained Rs 0.20 (2.82%) to close at Rs 7.30. Dialog Axiata, Hatton National Bank and MTD Walkers were also included amongst the top turnover contributo­rs.

The share price of Dialog Axiata moved up by Rs 0.20 (1.67%) to close at Rs 12.20. The share price of Hatton National Bank recorded a gain of Rs 2.90 (1.31%) to close at Rs 224.80. The share price of MTD Walkers appreciate­d by Rs 2.70 (24.55%) to close at Rs 13.70.
