Crossings account for 63% of the turnover
The ASPI closed in green as a result of price gains in counters such as Dialog Axiata, Lanka Orix Leasing Company and Hatton National Bank with the turnover crossing Rs 404 Mn. Meanwhile, the S&P SL20 edged up. Crossings were witnessed in Lion Brewery and Hatton plantations, accounting for 62.8% of the turnover. Mixed interest was observed in Dialog Axiata whilst retail interest was noted in MTD Walkers. Furthermore, foreigners remained active closing as net sellers. Total foreign sales accounted for 67.4% of the turnover.
Beverage, Food and Tobacco sector was the top contributor to the market turnover (due to Lion Brewery) whilst the sector index gained 0.17%. The share price of Lion Brewery increased by Rs 5.00 (0.78%) to close at Rs 650.00.
Plantations sector was the second highest contributor to the market turnover (due to Hatton Plantations) whilst the sector index decreased by 0.22%. The share price of Hatton Plantations gained Rs 0.20 (2.82%) to close at Rs 7.30. Dialog Axiata, Hatton National Bank and MTD Walkers were also included amongst the top turnover contributors.
The share price of Dialog Axiata moved up by Rs 0.20 (1.67%) to close at Rs 12.20. The share price of Hatton National Bank recorded a gain of Rs 2.90 (1.31%) to close at Rs 224.80. The share price of MTD Walkers appreciated by Rs 2.70 (24.55%) to close at Rs 13.70.
