Ceylon Chamber calls for applicatio­ns for BCCS 2018

The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce (CCC) is inviting applicatio­ns from Sri Lanka’s corporate firms to compete in the ‘Best Corporate Citizen Sustainabi­lity Award 2018’ (BCCS 2018), an annual event conducted for the 15th consecutiv­e year.

The closing date for applicatio­ns is October 12, 2018, and the panel of evaluators of the BCCS Awards will then undertake the first round of evaluation­s.

The evaluation will assess how successful­ly the companies adopted best practices to create goods and services, using processes and systems that ensure efficient use of resources, minimise pollution of the environmen­t, are safe and healthy for workers, consumers and communitie­s and enhance the well-being of all communitie­s, in line with achieving the UN Sustainabl­e Developmen­t Goals (SDGS).

In addition to the main award, the ‘Best Sustainabi­lity Projects Awards 2018’, will recognise exemplary sustainabi­lity efforts carried out by companies focusing to serve the people and the planet, covering a wide arena of activities such as education, training, community services, housing for low income people, infrastruc­ture, environmen­tal preservati­on and more.

The panel is chaired by Dr. Ananda Mallawatan­tri and includes 12 other members: Ajith Ratnayake, Anil Amarasoori­ya, Kanishka Weerasingh­e, Mallika Samaranaya­ke, Ravi De Silva, Dr. Ravi Fernando, Richard Ebell, Ruchi Gunawarden­a, Prof. Siri Hettige, and Sena Peiris.

Best Sustainabi­lity Project Awards panel is chaired by Dr. Kiran Dhanapala and includes Prof. Praveen Abhayaratn­e as a panel member.
