New Office bearers of Ceylon Baithulmal Fund

The 61st Annual General Meeting of the Ceylon Baithulmal Fund (CBF) was held on Saturday Sept. 2nd, 2018. The CBF was establishe­d in 1957 on the initiative of the late H. S. Ismail, (the first Muslim Speaker of the House of Representa­tives) who served as its President from the beginning to 1973, and was incorporat­ed by an Act of Parliament. New office bearers were elected at the AGM. President - A. A. M. Illiyas, Vice President - M. Rushdi Dahlan, Secretary - A. N. Nazvi Rahman, Treasurer - M. S. F. Haqque, Asst. Secretary - F. M. Asaf Khan. Committee members were M. Y. M. Faiz, A. Akram Mansoor, A. Fazal Issadeen, S. R. Rally, A. M. A. Nasry,

F. I. Anver, A. I. M. Muhsin, Dr. M. A. Zainudeen, Dr. N. M. Abdul Gaffar, Mohideen Cader, A. Imruz Kamil, M. H. M. Nazar, M. R. A. Hafeez and A. F. Feroze Noon

Al-haj. A. A. M. Illyas Admani, an eminent lawyer and industrial­ist was re-elected as the President for the year 2018/2019. Other Management Committee members include luminaries from the Legal, Accountanc­y, Banking, IT, Insurance Sectors and Directors of Companies.

A very successful model of alleviatin­g poverty among the needy is the CBF Village and Urban Developmen­t Programmes where CBF officials reach out to the poorest of the poor throughout the country and with the local Masjids officials, evaluate the assistance requiremen­ts which varies from self employment, education, orphan and widows support, medical assistance etc. Several such remote Villages and Urban areas under this programme have been assisted and more programmes are scheduled during the coming months.
